Activities in the area

There are numerous options for activities in this area including birdwatching, paragliding, horse riding, acrobranching, mountain and road biking, whale watching, fishing…. something for everyone.

Hiking

There are trails of varying distance and difficulty all located in the National Park. The Half-Collared Kingfisher trail crosses the Touw River by means of a pontoon to join the Giant Kingfisher trail. This is probably the most popular of all the local hikes as it is a broadwalk path, shaded by ancient giant trees and ends with a sparkling waterfall where you can swim to cool off and picnic.

Canoeing

Canoes are provided for guests free of change to enjoy a gentle drift up the Touz or onto the Serpentine, Alternatively, you can take hire a kayak up river to join the Pied Kingfisher trail.

Golfing

Award winning and internationally renowned golf courses such as Fancourt and Pinnacle Point are all within 20-45 mins drive making The Anchorage a clear choice as a central point for your tour. Our Spa Room will be open by Dec 2018 for all who would rather relax and be pampered.

Birding

Due to the many different ecosystems within the park ranging from the indigenous forest to the rocky shore, the Wilderness Section of the Garden Route National Park has become a bird paradise.
