This is what our guests say..
The owner welcomed us warmly and showed everything. The Anchorage has more to offer than you can take advantage of in a few days! The highlight is undoubtedly the location right on the river, swimming in the warm water is a pleasure. The river has no current, so it is also safe. The brown color comes from minerals, it is not dirty! The property has canoes that can be used for a free excursion to the Kingfisher Trail, which also saves entry to the National Park. The beach is only 2 minutes by car, also there you can walk for miles. - Germany
We were upgraded which was a great surprise. You are able to swim directly from the properties jetty into the lagoon and also enjoyed kayaking around the lagoon on a couple of occasions. Joplin's and Salinas were walk able and we had two great meals in these restaurants. Staff were great and we would definitely return to Wilderness and The Anchorage. - United Kingdom

We had a wonderful relaxing two night stay at The Anchorage. Our room (over the old boathouse) had everything we needed plus balcony with a view! The first night we arrived (tired after travelling) we planned a snack DIY dinner on the balcony with a bottle of wine. We were willingly provided with plates serviettes and cutlery. The second night we took Anchorage’s advice and went to Joplin’s next door - excellent and just a few minutes walk. The breakfast was first class. The canoes were a great addition - we planned to do the Kingfisher Waterfall Trail taking the car to the park entrance. However, to our surprise we were told we could canoe from The Anchorage (about 45 mins steady canoe journey) to the start of the walk. We thoroughly enjoyed a great canoe trip and a fairly easy board walk to the waterfall. We were able to swim in the excellent pool and directly next to the jetty in the lake. Overall a brilliant place to stay with a high level of service and great location. Highly recommended. - United Kingdom

The view is INCREDIBLE, and being able to take the canoe out on the river was such a wonderful experience. The pool and poolside area is also lovely for relaxing and enjoying the view. The rooftop area was also wonderful for enjoying the sunset while having a drink. The room had everything we needed and was very comfortable and luxurious. - South Korea

Double / Twin on the Terrace
Wonderful place. Great location, amazing lake view in the nature, very comfortable rooms with extra large size, exclusive interior, quality breakfast, very welcoming Landlords and staff members. No regret. Next time will stay at the same place again.
Location! Location! location!
This is wonderful place to stay, excellent location, and right on the river! My partner and I were greeted by the lovely owners, who made us feel at home right away. The rest of the staff was super friendly and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised when taken on a tour through the guesthouse, WHAT A LOVELY PLACE! Our room was even more beautiful then on the pictures. It was full of little treats and the bed was extra comfy! We enjoyed the quietness and beauty of the Anchorage and recommend it without hesitation.
Anchorage has so much soul! We were spoilt by our hosts from start to finish. The design, layout and furnishings are well thought out so that it feels lived in yet classy. The superb breakfast was the cherry on the top
From the moment we walked into the lounge, Carol-Ann and I were smitten. The pictures do not do this wonderful B&B ANY justice. The lengths that Karen & Gert go to, to making you feel at home and as if you are friends that you hadn't seen in a very long, is nothing short of remarkable. The design, layout and furnishings are well thought out so that it feels lived in yet classy.I have decided to return as often as I can since the Wilderness just happens to be my favourite destination. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Delux Suite 3
What a wonderful B&B in a fantastic location. The hosts Karen and Gerrit have put so many lovely touches throughout the property from the overall decor to the very comfortable rooms. Our room had a balcony and I was able to sit out in the sunshine watching the many birds fly up and down the river. There were plenty of other places to relax too, a roof top terrace and the patio by the pool. Breakfast was great and advice on things to do was very useful. We had a lovely stay and will definitely return next time we visit The Wilderness

The Wilderness is a place you drive through on your way to somewhere else, right? Well, not if you've heard of The Anchorage. And not if you've met Karen and Gerritt! They turn the journey into a destination, a place to stop, and relax, and just be. The Anchorage wraps itself around you and offers you peace.
